Five bores of 180m length and 20m depth drilled under a busy highway and parallel to a railway
Tracking used: ParaTrack Gyro Module, 4 3/4” OD Assembly + Surface Coil
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Distance: 5 x 180 meters
Depth: 20 meters
Entry Angle: 18 Degrees
Exit Angle: 20 Degrees
Ground: Sand/Clay & Rock
Pipeline: 125 mm cable bundle
Technique: Mud Motor
To install 5 parallel highway crossings in Melbourne using Gyro Module, we drilled parallel to a railway line with extremely high interference. This job was carried out with a small 50-ton rig using Prime Horizontal’s 4 ¾” Mon-Mag assembly. ParaTrack Gyro Module was the preferred steering system as accurate depth requirements under the railway meant a combination of surface coil and Gyro Module enabled the bores to be drilled as per the drill profile from entry to exit accurately.
